Tonight I ran around the internet and looked up pen and ink techniques. I was never great at any of the ones I tried, but it was fun to remember they existed.
The same YouTube channel had a colored pencil eye tutorial. This is where I learned I have a crappy set of colored pencils. I rarely use colored pencils, so even though I’ve had this set for years, I don’t think I ever used them. Jerome bought them for me ‘cause he liked the box. As you can see, they don’t blend well. You also may be able to tell just by the way I tried to blend that I normally prefer chalk pastel or watercolor.
The last one is just ‘cause I’ve had that song stuck in my head for weeks and I feel depressed. My husband is busy, I can’t sleep, I can’t do stuff…blah blah..
All this ‘cause my chalk pastels and watercolors were both lost in the move and I can’t properly get my art on without them.
A lot of you have been talking about Bob Ross recently. I never watched him before, so tonight I looked him up. I’d like to try his technique sometime. I never learned how to use oil or acrylic paint at all, so trying a wet-on-wet oil style would be completely different. It already blew my mind ‘cause I didn’t know you could do that!
I learned how to watercolor from a book. I don’t see why I shouldn’t be able to learn oil painting from a video.
Anyway…enough rambling…the sun’s coming up!
Happy Sunday, everyone.
